In today’s society, the younger generation, in particular, is becoming more and more addicted to social media. With that comes a concern of meeting online predators. Online predators appear on social media platforms and dating websites with fake profiles with the aim to manipulate and use their victims. This issue is very problematic because it can result in sexual abuse and the victim can experience long-term mental health problems. It is very easy in today’s world to encounter online predators considering all of the social platforms and websites they can attack their victims on. There should be more awareness so that people are informed and well educated, especially young children, to avoid these risks and know what to do if an online predator ever contacts them. This blog aims to familiarise the reader with who they are, what are their tactics, where to get help and what are the possible mental health consequences.
